Collection: Chemical Rapture

Each painting was inspired by a different song that hit on all these different types of intimacy. The lyrics of each song are subtle or not so subtle in their delivery of sex and I found it intriguing that it was so in our faces. And I thought “Why can’t I do that with my paintings in an abstract way?”

Each one of my reference photos was an up-close and personal insight into different types of intimacy and the different types of partners whether it is a married couple that has been together for a long time and needs to rekindle their relationship. A couple that clearly still has the hots for one another, a young couple just experiencing intimacy for the first time. Mere lust for someone that you only see from a distance or a hot one-night stand. Each one of the songs is both from the male and female perspective and I thought that it was important to convey that it isn’t just one-sided.
